WHAT IS rePETe?
rePETe is a trademarked term ChicoBag uses to identify products made from recycled materials. All ChicoBag rePETe products contain certified Repreve fabric which is made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles. In addition, many products have other recycled components like carabiners, cording and cord locks.
Transparency is important to us and we want you to know exactly what goes into the product you are buying. All rePETe products have a materials statement that lists each component used on either the inside of the bag, back of the pouch, or both. This line of products helps us to close the loop on our manufacturing processes by using post-consumer waste to create new components for our products.
We have chosen to work with Repreve because their values are in line with ours and they are the only company that certifies the recycled content in their fibers. When you look at polyester and recycled polyester under a microscope there is no difference. Repreve solves that problem by weaving a tracer into their yarns so that we can confirm it is post-consumer recycled content. See the process of turning bottles into fabric below.
