We understand there is always more we can do to help kick single use. That is why we have implemented a number of environmental and social programs designed to make our business cleaner and planet healthier.
MEET OUR SUPPLIERS
We partner with factories in Cambodia and China to manufacture our reusable bags, packs, and totes. During twice yearly visits we check in on improvements from audit results, talk about new projects, strengthen our long-term working relationship and swim up our supply chain to ensure our standards are being upheld for everything from thread to hardware and hangtags.
ChicoBag actively supports fair labor and workplace standards throughout our entire supply chain. We are proud to be a Category C Licensee of the Fair Labor Association. The Fair Labor Association works collaboratively with colleges and universities, NGOs, and socially responsible companies to improve working conditions in factories around the world.
We visit our tier one suppliers and conduct independent, third-party audits to ensure compliance with the Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing and Production. For more information on the Fair Labor Association visit www.fairlabor.org
Pactics Cambodia Co. Ltd., Siem Reap, Cambodia
We are proud to have Pactics as our manufacturing partner since 2017. Childcare is a big focus for the company. “Eighty per cent of our employees are female so we opened our onsite crèche to allow women to breastfeed. We have free daycare for all employees’ children between three months of age up until 12-15 months, and after that we subsidise $15 a month for all employees’ childcare. There’s also a first aid room staffed by a nurse, a subsidised canteen and Pactics pays half of the cost for motorbike helmets for all staff.
Employees go through a rigorous week-long training programme, learning about safety, labour rights, sexual harassment and hygiene,” says Piet Holten, Founder and President of Pactics Co. Ltd. “Everyone says we are so exceptional, but all we’re doing is following what the law demands. For instance, the law states you must have childcare if you have more than 100 staff, but this isn’t enforced. We are not exceptional – everyone else is simply below standard if they don’t follow the law.”
