JUNIOR GRAPHIC DESIGNER
LOCATION: Chico, CA
SALARY: $33,500 — $45,000
DESCRIPTION:The Junior Graphic Designer position is a production graphics support and development role that provides graphics support to meet company goals. The Junior Graphic Designer reports to the Creative Manager and is responsible for prioritizing and executing incoming mockup and artwork requests for sales opportunities. This position is primarily phone/computer-based. You must be able to sit or stand in front of a computer for the majority of your workday.
* At this time our office is open for essential roles only with the majority of our staff working remotely. This role is important to have in our Chico, CA office once the stay at home orders have lifted.
Minimum of 1-year experience in graphic design, preferably pre-production artwork experience.
Related education and experience may be considered.
Expert communicator - in writing, verbally, and through graphic representation.
Professionalism, clarity, and timeliness are key to success with co-workers, suppliers, clients, and partners.
Well organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle a sometimes shared inbox without losing sleep.
Ability to manage tight deadlines and shifting priorities throughout the day.
Ability to make things look awesome - specifically, the ability to distinguish layout/typography, apply color theory, hierarchy, and balance.
Go-getter - when there is free time you're asking for projects, challenging your priorities, and learning new skills.
Ability to take sometimes cryptic customer feedback and return a creative solution that meets their needs and pleases their eyes -- your artwork helps close deals!
Quick to learn computer skills and new software - proficient in Google Apps, Adobe Creative Suite, and other cloud based applications.
Ideally has experience with servers and remote work.
Self-starter that can prioritize work independently and also coordinate with a team.
Enjoys working and collaborating with others to make our clients' visions a reality - it can sometimes feel like a lot of cooks in the kitchen so a level-headed, patient and persuasive nature will allow for smooth navigation in this role.

Role and Responsibilities:
Mock-Ups and Artwork Support
Take direction from sales representatives to produce mock-ups for clients or prospective clients. Review artwork files for quality, clarity, accuracy, and color. Edit vector artwork down to a solid one-color print logo, or the appropriate amount of colors to make it screen print ready. Redraw customer logos as needed - taking low quality .jpg files and applying graphic magic. Produce live traces of raster images to make them production-ready. Repetitive and sometimes tedious artwork revisions to meet the customers' needs. Checks for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with established standards of ChicoBag Company and meticulously follow any brand guidelines provided. Maintain accurate, orderly, and up to date mockup template files and instructions for using them. Work with the product development and operations teams to create new mockup templates and ensure there is nothing lost in translation to our manufacturing partners.
Marketing and Product Support
Printing and finishing - booklets, catalogs, labels, signs, mounted graphics, end cap displays, and the ability to work through paper jams and error codes.Photoshoot and editing support - ever want to be a hand model? This might be your big break! Seriously though, we need a team player who is willing to do whatever it takes to support getting the shot we're after. Editing and optimizing photos for various mediums to support product releases and media inquiries. Assist Creative Manager by supporting marketing campaigns with social media, email, and other creative assets.
