Certifications are crucial to help consumers weed out greenwashing, which slows our cumulative progress toward better manufacturing practices and conscious consumerism. The path isn’t easy, but companies like ours aren’t just setting the bar—we’re raising it. Obtaining third-party certification is our way of gaining your trust through transparent, metric-based actions to demonstrate our commitment to net positive impact.
Three of the most respected certifications that set companies like ChicoBag apart are B Corporation, 1% for the Planet, and Climate Neutral. A Climate Neutral certification shows a company’s commitment to carbon accounting and accountability, whereas a B Corporation certification is a full lifecycle analysis with sky-high standards of minimal impact on the earth. 1% for the Planet was founded by Patagonia CEO Yves Chouinard and is now a globally recognized stamp signaling a commitment to donate 1% of profits to environmental causes. The companies with the trifecta of all three certifications are part of the exclusive “B1C Club.”
Below, we highlight four of our fellow B1C members and some of the #littlebitbetter choices they make to protect the earth. As B1C company dewerstone said it best: “We’re in nature’s debt. It’s time to pay her back.” And these four companies are putting their money where their mouths are, right into Mother Earth’s bank account.
Allgood Body Care: A little bit smoother
Founded on the simple premise that things good for our body should also be good for the earth, Allgood went all in on both. This B1C company lives for harmony and quality over profit with plant-infused organic lip balms, mineral sunscreen butter sticks, and skin recovery balms.
How they make the planet a #littlebitbetter:
What helped them meet stringent B Corp requirements? Their mineral-based sunscreen is just one of a few reef-friendly options readily available on the market, while their alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals means they pay close attention to fair labor, low-impact sourcing, and reduction of virgin plastics in production.

Klean Kanteen: A little bit more hydrated
No hydration vessel has ever been more omnipotent than the Klean Kanteen. There’s nothing traditional about how they’ve made their way into school backpacks, car consoles, and Bottle Sling holders across the world. This family and employee-owned company launched the first BPA-free stainless steel water bottle in 2004, replacing an infinite amount of single-use plastic and inspiring other companies to transform their products as well.
How they make the planet a #littlebitbetter:
Klean Kanteen recently improved on their plastic-free bottle by switching to certified 90% post-consumer recycled stainless steel across their product line—the first in the industry to do so—reinforcing their commitment to their Climate Neutral certification.

Avocado Green Mattress: A little bit more rested
An estimated 20 million mattresses are thrown into landfills yearly—the equivalent of 132,000 square miles of landfill space. As a gold standard B1C company, Avocado Green Mattress goes beyond the basics by tracking cradle-to-cradle emissions, taking responsibility for what happens to a product over the course of its entire lifecycle, and solving climate change with systemic solutions.
How they make the planet a #littlebitbetter:
Their organic mattresses are also certified for 25 years, meaning they stay out of the waste stream longer than a typical mattress, which is typically 7-10 years. They’re also Fair Trade certified and a Pinnacle Award winner from 1% for the Planet.

Dewerstone: A little bit better-dressed
Dewerstone is a grassroots apparel company that creates high-quality, sustainable clothing for purpose-led brands and businesses. Screen printed in-house, they ensure their impact is measured at every part of the process to ensure their overall carbon footprint is calculated, offset, and reduced in every way possible.
How they make the planet a #littlebitbetter:
Between protecting free-flowing waterways with Save Our Rivers, building bio rocks and protecting turtles with the Gili Eco Trust, or planting trees with Eden Reforestation Projects and their own Feed the Families campaign, it’s clear dewerstone puts purpose over profit.
